Smart IR Control in Pattaya
IR control allows appliances that use a regular infrared remote control to be connected to a smart home system: air conditioners, TVs, fans, audio systems and other home appliances.
This is a convenient solution for apartments, condos, villas and rental properties in Pattaya where existing appliances are already installed, but phone control, scenes and Home Assistant integration are needed without fully replacing the equipment.

BroadLink room package — 2,900 THB
The installed package includes one BroadLink RM4 Mini, its power adapter, Wi-Fi connection and programming of up to two compatible infrared appliances in the same room. Standard positioning, command testing and app handover are included.
An additional compatible IR appliance in that room is 400 THB. Integration of an already installed RM4 Mini into an existing, working Home Assistant system is 800 THB.
Suitable equipment
- split air conditioners operated by a normal IR remote;
- televisions, set-top boxes and selected audio systems;
- fans and other appliances with supported infrared commands;
- existing equipment where replacement is unnecessary or impractical.
One controller normally serves one room
Infrared requires a usable line of sight and does not reliably pass through walls or closed cabinets. A controller is positioned so its signal reaches the intended appliances. Separate rooms normally require separate controllers, even when all devices appear in one dashboard.
Important limitation: no guaranteed feedback
A standard IR command is usually one-way. The controller can send power, mode or temperature commands, but it may not know whether somebody later used the original remote or whether the appliance received the signal. We do not present simulated IR status as confirmed equipment feedback.
Scenes and automation
Compatible commands can be included in arrival, bedtime, guest or empty-property scenes. Home Assistant integration can add scripts and combine IR control with local sensors. Temperature-based AC logic belongs to the separate Smart AC Control scope because it requires appropriate sensing, safeguards and testing.
The original remote remains useful
Normal appliance controls are retained for direct operation and troubleshooting. Smart IR adds another interface; it does not modify the appliance electronics.
What is not included
The room package excludes a new router or access point, Home Assistant server, subscription services, appliance repair and replacement of a missing or faulty original remote. Some uncommon remote protocols or model-specific commands may not be supported; compatibility is checked before final programming.
Installation process
- The original remotes and appliance response are checked.
- A suitable powered location with Wi-Fi coverage is selected.
- Commands are added and tested from normal room positions.
- Names, scenes and optional Home Assistant controls are configured.
- The client receives normal and manual operating instructions.
